COLLEGE FOOTBALL “STOCK/STOCK DOWN” – (After CFB Week 2)
STOCK UP TEAMS
1). WAKE FOREST: Look this Offense is once again lethal and QB Hartmann is Top 5 in all CFB. The Defense simply needs to be above average and I feel it will.
2). ARKANSAS: This team is likely to fly under the Radar for awhile still. They won’t blow out too many teams but they run ball and simply bully the opposing Defenses. If the QB (Jefferson) can stay healthy they are in for huge season. Big “IF” though as he runs right at all the defenders. He’s a big and tough kid so he should be ok. He has a second strong RB (Sanders) to make for some long days for opposing Defenses. They are well coached and I will add when they are Home the atmosphere is electric. One of best in CFB right now.
3). MISSISSIPPI STATE: Another team with a still relatively unknown superstar playing QB (Rogers). This Offense is deep with talented wide outs and lots of speed. They can compete with anybody.
Honorable Mention: KANSAS, SYRACUSE, ILLINOIS, RUTGERS
STOCK DOWN TEAMS
1). NOTRE DAME: Look folks they lost their starting QB Buchner for the season. But that’s now why I am putting them here. Heck the backup QB Pyne is possibly better anyway. I just do not see the talent of ND teams of the past. Buchner was supposed to be a stud runner. He and the rest RB group are averaging (3.1) yards per carry. This team has the best Tight End (Mayer) in the nation and yet I just don’t see this team playing games they win in a blowout. They will likely be in close games most weeks and I see more losses then anyone expected by year’s end. I can’t see taking this team right now unless Pyne comes in and looks magnificent. He’s gonna have his hands full if the run game doesn’t greatly improve really fast.
2). IOWA: This may look obvious as Iowa’s Offense is bad. Really bad. Did I mention really BAD? They are basically after 3 weeks (2 full weeks of CFB action) DEAD LAST on Offense. Ouch! Iowa’s QB (Petras) is simply one terrible QB. He has zero TD passes and with a Run Game as weak as they come (1.9) yards per carry he won’t improve. He’s not a Freshman. He can’t read a Defense. The run game has two carries over 10 yards. Yikes! Look the Defense is good but this season is all on them to win games.
3). NEVADA: Ok so you are saying a (2-1) team is a Stock Down team? Yes. Yes. This team has very little talent on both sides of the ball. Do NOT let the winning record fool you. The Defense forced 9 turnovers the first 2 weeks leading to lots of great field position. They have been outgained in all 3 games. The only good thing in their favor is they play a weak schedule ahead. Just don’t buy into the (2-1) records. It’s a fraud (2-1).
