COLLEGE FOOTBALL
MISSISSIPPI STATE @ ALABAMA
SAT. OCT. 22, 2022
VEGAS ODDS: ALABAMA (-21) ~ TOTAL: (60 1/2)
ALABAMA HEAD COACH NICK SABAN: In his last 7 games after a LOSS he is (7-0) straight up, average win margin (31) points and average Pointspread cover is (+13) points. Now you add he’s (2-0) vs. Mississippi State HC Mike Leach and last year Bama won (49-9) and the year before it was worse for Leach/Bulldogs as Bama won (41-0). It’s clear Leach’s little piece of paper with 4 plays on it is not working vs. Alabama.
MISSISSIPPI STATE: Last 2 Road games were both losses. Last week (27-17) at Kentucky and (31-16) at LSU. In those two games stud QB Rogers passed for only (214) and (203) passing yards. The Bulldogs lost the Time Of Possession battle last week to Kentucky (40-20) minutes only running (47) plays to Kentucky’s (73).
ALABAMA: Penalties are killing this team and the numbers are staggering: (17) vs. Tenny, (15) vs. Texas and (10) vs. Arkansas. Some good news above you just read Mississippi States Defense was only field last week 2/3rds of the game. Well Bama Defense (even in 52-49) shootout, was only on field (22 minutes). The Bama Defense shockingly keeps allowing gigantic plays (78 and 60 yard TD passes last week) and these are the two main reasons they aren’t winning big like past seasons.
NOTE: Mississippi State player Sam Westmoreland died on Wednesday. The team is as expected mourning the terrible/sudden loss of their teammate and so these things can only go two ways. The Team somehow gets up and the grieving stops for the game and they go play super inspired to win the game in Sam’s honor or they grieve and no show for this big game. Impossible to call which of the two will happen.
