“SPORTS STAT OF THE DAY” – TUES. AUGUST 30, 2022 – CFB WIN TOTAL

COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON WIN TOTAL ~ OVER/UNDER

Each year every team has an Over/Under WINS number that is put out by Sports Books hoping this number can produce extra bets on a College Football Team and one where the Sportsbook gets to hold your money until the entire season ends.

The most interesting Over/Under I feel is the TEXAS LONGHORNS ~ OVER/UNDER 9 WINS.

Texas gets a ton of pub each week and each season and yet surprisingly this team has not won over 9 games in the past 12 seasons but once. Hence making the OVER 9 wins (if that was the case past 12 seasons) you would have cashed only one ticket. Ouch!

Last year in new Head Coach Steve Sarkisian’s first season they went (5-7). Asking his team (or any team really) to win 5 more games the following season is a big “ask”. Most teams with solid newer Head Coaches will make strides in year 2, but damn a 5 win stride in year 2 is really asking an awful lot. Now asking a Redshirt Freshman (Quinn Ewers) to win 10 games in year 1 and you are just adding to the already “tall ask/task”.

Texas opponents last season won (90) games. That is second most of any team providing a likely tough schedule this season. The good news for Texas backers is they will have Revenge spots in all but games vs. Kansas State and TCU…..so many of the really good opponents they should remember last year’s losses (can you say Revenge will be in their heads for the 70-35 loss to Texas Tech….????).

FINAL NOTE:
I am not a big regular season TOTAL WINS bettor. But in NFL or CFB it’s asking a lot to expect a team will win 5 more games this season is asking a lot.
