COLLEGE FOOTBALL – WEEK 2 –
REVENGE SPOTS & SPECIAL
NOTES TO WATCH FOR!

COLLEGE FOOTBALL – WEEK 2  ~  (FRI/SAT SEPT 9-10)

“REVENGE” SPOTS FOR THIS WEEK’S GAME FROM LAST YEARS FINAL RESULTS and EXTRA NOTES!

1). CENTRAL FLORIDA – Lost last year @ Louisville (42-35). The game featured 917 yards total Offense by both teams.

2). NEW MEXICO – Lost last year at Home to Boise State (37-0).  New Mexico is (0-6) ATS at Home under HC Gonzalez. NM has played (10 Unders and 3 Overs) last 13 games overall and Boise State has played (12 Unders and 2 Overs) in it’s last 14 games overall.

3). NORTHWESTERN: Lost last year to Duke (30-23) thanks to turning ball over 5x. Surprisingly both teams combined for 978 total yards.

4). TENNESSEE: Lost last year to Pitt (41-34) thanks to 3 critical turnovers. Tenny Offense is loaded and should move ball easily here but the line is steep as Pitt at Home no easy place to win, moreso by TD. Could be another Pitt/WVA (last week) CFB classic though.

5). ILLINOIS:  Lost last year to Virginia (42-14) in a game that was dominated by the Cavs (556-337) total yards difference.

6). HOUSTON: Lost last year to Texas Tech (38-21) thanks to 4 costly turnovers. Houston comes in off a 3 OT game (they did win) last week but the Offense really clicked in second half and Overtime(s). Texas Tech starting QB is out here but don’t make that the reason for your “Bet Against”…the backup is just as good and this TT Offense will stay electric. Quietly this may be the Best “matchup game” all weekend.

7). IOWA STATE: Lost last year to rival Iowa (27-17). No player on Iowa State has ever beaten Iowa. Iowa scored 7 points last week. And somehow won. And the 7 points weren’t off a TD. Nope. It was a FG and 2 Safeties. I kid you not. Iowa gained a whopping 166 total yards vs. S. Dakota State. Ouch! These two teams have made for a game tape to re-watch to help you fall asleep. In the last 9 meetings they have played 8 UNDERS. In the 8 games that did go UNDER, the average points scored was (36). Iowa State has the 3rd least experienced team in the country.

8). UAB: Lost last year to Liberty (36-12). Liberty gained 545 total yards. Funny part of that game it was tied (3-3) at Half. But Liberty scored 33 in second half to turn game into Blowout City. Liberty lost it’s starting QB Brewer last week and the backup Bennett was ineffective. UAB was (5-1) ATS last year on Road and come in here with gigantic experience edge.

9). FLORIDA: Lost last year to Kentucky (20-13) although they dominated the game (382-224 total yard edge). Kentucky blocked a Florida FG and returned it for the difference making TD.  Kentucky Stud RB Rodriquez is suspended for this game. Florida won a huge game last week beating top 10 Utah. This will be new HC Billy Napier’s first Home game at the Swamp. Florida (8-0) straight up at Home vs. SEC East opponents. Don’t overthink though how Kentucky struggled to beat lowly Miami-Ohio last week. The OC said they held back the entire playbook to not give Florida anything to go off of. That’s key thing in betting. Not every game will be played with same intensity or all out play calling.

10). USC: Lost last year to Stanford (42-28). They will be right back there this time around too. USC won big last week but they also had an amazing 3 Pick-6 Touchdowns by the Defense. USC is laying over a TD here, mostly due to the hype of HC/QB.

11). BYU: Lost last year to Baylor (38-24) at Home in Provo. They host them again with the entire Defense returning to try to avenge the total beatdown by the Bears Run game (Baylor had 303 total rushing yards last year). This game also knocked BYU out of the rankings. Altitude is often a problem for many teams but Baylor proved it was nothing to fret last year. Both teams have great Coaching as both teams due to their HC’s are teams I immediately look to “Bet On”. This is the Saturday Night “Bailout Game” for many bettors who lost all day and try to get some money back. I am waiting til Sat. afternoon to see the status of BYU’s two stud WR’s (Nacua and Romney).

LAST WEEK’S IMPORTANT NOTES/STATS/INFO:

1). ILLINOIS: Had 4 turnovers that cost them a game that for most part they dominated.

2). RUTGERS: Beat Boston College with a late TD and played without starting QB Vedral.

3). SEC: (13-1) Straight up last week and solid (9-5) ATS too.

4). MICHIGAN STATE: Lost LB Snow and Safety Henderson too and both now out.

5). CAL POLY: Had the ball inside Cal Bears side of field 5x yet didn’t score and worse allowed a Pick 6.

6). OKLAHOMA STATE: Led 51-15 last week and then pulled all the starters…then allowed 29 points….so final score VERY DECEIVING.

7). SOUTH CAROLINA: The Special Teams had 2 blocked Punts for Touchdowns…so those 14 points not by new QB Rattler/Offense.

8). NEVADA: Team picked to be awful had Defense step up big again with (+4) turnovers. They now lead nation with (9) turnovers by their Defense. Wow!

9). UTSA and HOUSTON: Both come in off wild 3 Overtime game last week.

10). TEXAS: With the Longhorns now a (+20) Underdog vs. Alabama….this will become their largest Underdog spread since 1976 playing at Home in Austin.

11). COLORADO: The Defense last week allowed TCU to average (9.2) yards per carry. EEEKKK!

12). EAST CAROLINA: Lost to NC State (21-20) last week and had late game tying Extra Point miss and then Missed last second FG to win game. Toughest loss of any team last week.

13). NOTRE DAME: Now in his 3rd game as HC, Marcus Freeman will finally coach his first ever Home game at Touchdown Jesus Field.

14). VA TECH QB WELLS: Threw 4 INT’s in his first game with Hokies after his Marshall days. Nothing changed as he’s now been Intercepted (21x) in his last 17 games.

15). ARKANSAS DEFENSE: Lost both Starting Safeties and are ??? this week vs. South Carolina.

16). FRESNO STATE OFFENSE: I already loved this Offense with 2 stud WR’s (Cropper/Kelly) but wow the addition of former Cal WR (Remigio) makes them really strong this season.

LAST WEEK’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL STATS TO WATCH CLOSELY REST OF WAY AHEAD:

1). NEW MEXICO STATE OFFENSE: Had 6 first downs and completed only 4 passes vs. Minny Defense.

2). INDIANA: Most folks only look at who won last week. Yes Indiana won but they ran ball 26x for only 32 total yards.

3). BOWLING GREEN OFFENSE: In some ways it looks like they almost covered and played well. They did NOT. It was UCLA’s Defense that dominated the game wire to wire. UCLA gained 619 yards and held BG to only 162 total yards. UCLA held BG to (1.5) yards per carry.

4). TEXAS STATE OFFENSE: Ran the ball 25x for (-12) total rushing yards and vs. a weak Nevada Defense and had only 33 total plays.

WATCH OUT THIS WEEK FOR “TIRED DEFENSES” (*These teams were on field for a ton of plays last week).

1). NEW MEXICO STATE DEFENSE: On field 80 plays vs. Nevada.

2). BALL STATE DEFENSE: On field for 86 plays vs. Tenny.

3). OLE MISS DEFENSE: On field for 81 plays vs. Troy.

4). MIDDLE TENNY STATE DEFENSE: On field for 85 plays vs. James Madison.

5). SMU DEFENSE: On field for 81 plays vs. North Texas.

6). BOWLING GREEN DEFENSE: On field for 92 plays vs. UCLA (most of any Defense in Week 1).

7). INDIANA DEFENSE: On field for 90 plays vs. Illinois.

8). S.MISSISSIPPI DEFENSE: On field for 83 plays vs. Liberty.

9). OKLAHOMA DEFENSE: On field 82 plays vs. UTEP last week.

10). WYOMING DEFENSE: On field for 84 plays last week vs. Tulsa.

11). MEMPHIS DEFENSE: On field for 83 plays vs. Ole Miss last week.
