VEGAS ODDS: MIAMI DOLPHINS – TEAM TOTAL: “OVER/UNDER” = (27 1/2) POINTS
NOTE: The Dolphins Offense had been clicking on all cylinders until they went on a Xmas giving spree turning the ball over 4x. QB Tua Tags had his worst game, but receivers dropped balls they hadn’t dropped all year and the OL looked off from the get go. The play calling was also terrible with only 8 run plays called. Now you give blame to the Dolphins Offense for that loss but you also give most of that as credit to the Niners Defense, which just happens to be the #1 Defense in the NFL (hence not that shocking Miami struggled). Now this week the Dolphins Offense isn’t facing a #1 Defense, it’s facing a #26 Defense in the LA Chargers. Huge Difference and in their favor is it looks like the one star in the Chargers seconds, D. James, is likely to miss this game.
The Chargers D has allowed 27, 24, 30, 22, 17 and 37 points it’s last 6 games. In it’s last 2 Home games the Chargers have allowed 485 total yards and 403 total yards to two other very good Offenses (KC and Seattle). Last week they allowed a struggling Raiders Offense to gain 404 total yards. They couldn’t garner one sack vs. one of the worst OL’s in the NFL (Raiders OL). Great teams will have bad games and last week the Dolphins Offense had not a bad game but atrocious. Great teams usually rebound the following week with a focused effort and usually turnover free. If that happens here, regardless of how many point the solid Chargers Offense scores, they should be able to score 30+ points. I am looking at Miami to score in the 38-44 point range here on Sunday and that is more than plenty to go over the Team Total of 27 1/2 points the Oddsmakers have posted.
