STARTING PITCHER OF THE DAY REPORT:

SEATTLE MARINERS – LOGAN GILBERT facing the Philadelphia Phillies

SEASON: (4-0), (33 INN), (1.36 ERA), (1.09 baserunners allowed per inning)

Overall been outstanding with only poor start in 6 made this year last start. He did allow 7 hits, 3 earned runs, 6K’s, 3 walks.

But prior to that he went 28 innings, 18 hits, 2 earned runs, 8 walks, 33 K’s. his slider and change up didn’t work at all last start and he solely relied only on his fastball. His fastball is really good but he does nibble a lot and the Phillies do work longer counts and walks. He does have one advantage as the Phillies are starting a converted Reliever today in B. Falter. I normally don’t fret over one bad start for any Pitcher as some days you just don’t have it. My worry with Gilbert is his secondary pitches all season haven’t been all that great. If you rely only on your fastball vs. the Phillies you will give up some runs (and likely a Homer in the scoring circle).
