STOCK UP / STOCK DOWN REPORT FOR THE WEEK
“STOCK UP” TEAM OF WEEK
DETROIT LIONS: The Lions are a heartbreaking late loss to the Bills on Turkey Day from winning 5 straight games. Even with the loss they have now won 4 of their last 5 games. They continue to have the worst Defense in the League…but the Offense is clicking on all cylinders. In fact they have surged to now (#7) Offense in the NFL with a very solid mix of Run/Pass. QB Goff has gotten some much better OL support these past 5 weeks and this team is loaded with stud Offensive Weapons. They are averaging a whopping (32) points per game over their past 4 games. They have also added stud Rookie WR J. Williams, who finally returned last week for his first game ever after starring at Alabama. They will be playing their their 3rd straight Home game in a row on Sunday. They have a rematch vs. the Vikings as they look to avenge an earlier (28-24) loss at Minnesota, a game the Offense gained over 400 total yards. Look folks the Defense is what it is….BAD….but with the Offense clicking they now have a chance to win any game they play. If they beat Minny on Sunday and go t0 (6-7) with 4 games remaining that are super winnable (Jets, Panthers, Bears and Packers) things in Motown could get really exciting during the Holiday season.
“STOCK DOWN” TEAM OF WEEK
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: Much like the new Head Coaching Broncos season this 2022 season with another new Head Coach for the Saints and my grade of HC Allen is (D-). Last week they couldn’t stop the Bucs from going length of field on final drive to grab a much needed win. Playing in the worst Division in the NFL, a win last week would’ve had them at 5 wins, only 1 back Tampa Bay. Instead the loss has them with a (4-9) record and this season is a wrap. The Offense is a tragic joke with QB Dalton at the helm (13, 10, 27, 0 and 16 points scored past 5 games) and yet HC Allen won’t make a change. He is supposed to be a Defensive Guru yet the Defense has a league low (3) interceptions on the entire season. Nothing really has gone well for this team except for first round pick WR Olave. I’d be stunned if this team wins more than one more game rest of this season. I’d run far from ever betting this team rest of the way. It’s a shame too as they have loads of talent.
“OUT OF GAS”
MINNESOTA VIKINGS DEFENSE: This Defense has moved to second worst in the NFL. Most would never even grasp it could be so bad with such a gaudy winning record (10-2). They can’t stop the run or pass and can’t get off the field the past month now. Last week they spent (82) plays on the field on Defense, with that number very high the 2 prior weeks as well (both 70 plays). They allowed (486, 409, 458, 486) total yards the past 4 weeks. I posted them as a “FRAUD TEAM” in this Stock Up/Stock Down article a few weeks ago. Winning though has mirrored that some. But trust me folks this Defense and Kirk “Never Won a Big Game” Madoff Cousins is not a recipe for long term success. The problem on Defense is they tackle poorly, are out of position often and they can’t cover in the secondary. You can only improve slightly with those 3 problems. They may need to score 40 points a game ahead to keep grabbing “W’s”!
