Well folks the mighty Yankees needed everything in the tank to sneak by the Guardians. But then they had to fly quickly to Houston for this ALCS Series vs. the Astros. Two games now in books and the Yankees came up short in two low scoring games. Now they fly back to the Bronx for now the biggest game of the entire season. Let’s face it folks you go down (3-0) in this Series and you are not coming back.
The Yankees have the most expensive starting Pitcher in MLB, Gerrit Cole. He’s been up and down a lot this season but his last game he finally clicked by elevating his fastball to the 98MPH zone and it completely shut down the Guardians hitters. In Game 2, Yankees starter L. Severino was outstanding with his elevated fastball and the Astros missed it all game. It really was one bad pitch to A. Bregman (3 run homer) that made difference in Game 2.
SEASON TREND TO WATCH: HOUSTON ASTROS are just (10-12) this season when installed as the Underdog.
FREE PICK: I am banking fully on Cole to pitch a gem here and we get a break as the Astros supposed starter McCullers got hurt celebrating and now in for him is C. Javier for the Astros. He is a solid Pitcher but of late he hasn’t started and only appeared in one Playoff game so far and that was as a Reliever. This is no easy task to ask a guy who mostly started games all year to all of a sudden just return to Starter form and then on top of it go pitch a gem too. I don’t see Javier lasting past 4 innings and although Astros Bullpen is solid…when you ask any Bullpen to go throw 5 or 6 guys out there….usually one of two is off his game. I think Cole knows how big this game is and facing his old team mates and finding a nice groove last outing will surely have his confidence sky high here for Game 3. I also fully expect the Bronx Crazies (I am a Yankees season ticket holder for decades, although I do hate the Yankees) to bring their A+ game and the Yankees hitters will feed off it and those balls hit just short of the wall in this Band Box Ball Park will fly OVER THE FENCE…and this game is the one the Yankees hitters finally break out and score 6 or 7 runs, plenty enough for Cole to grab this huge WIN and get this Series to a more exciting one with it (2-1) after 3 games. Take Cole/Yankees in Game 3 to the Winners Circle. Enjoy the game and have a great weekend everybody.
