COLLEGE FOOTBALL – DECEIVING
NUMBERS/STATS – WEEK 2

COLLEGE FOOTBALL (WEEK 2) ~ (SEPT. 9-10th, 2022)

DECEIVING NUMBERS AND STATS TO PAY ATTENTION TO: OFTEN FINAL SCORES “LIE”!!

1). DUKE/NORTHWESTERN: Duke won 31-23 but N’western gained 511 yards, ran 94 plays to just 59 plays for Duke but 3 turnovers, including fumbling at the 1 late to possibly tie the game.

2). WASHINGTON ST/WISCONSIN: Wash State won 17-14 but Wisky outgained them 401-259 total yards, ran ball for 174 yards to just 53 for Wash State and Wisky ran 75 plays to just 50 for Wash State.

3). KANSAS/WEST VA: Kansas won 55-42 but was outgained 501-419 total yards and WVA ran 78 plays to just 65. They also passed for 136 yards more passing yards.

4). USC/STANFORD: USC won 41-28 but it was mostly thanks to 4 Stanford turnovers. Stanford ran 80 plays to 63 for USC.

5). OREGON STATE/FRESNO ST: Oregon St won 35-32 when they decided to go for a TD on game’s final play rather than kick a FG to tie the game and go to Overtime. Fresno State outgained Oregon by 97 total yards and was seemingly in control of the game for the entire game until the late collapse.

STATS AND IMPORTANT STATS TO TAKE NOTE OF:

1). HOUSTON: Played a second straight Overtime game and in the second one vs. Texas Tech they ran only 68 total plays to an insane 103 plays run by Texas Tech. The Houston Defense clearly some tired legs entering game vs. Kansas.

2). IOWA: We all know the Offense is struggling mightily but the Defense was on field last week for 79 total plays as the anemic Offense ran only 51 total plays.

3). TEXAS A+M: Last week vs. App State the Offense struggled so much it ended up running only 38 total plays. I’ve done this for 34 years and I can’t recall any Top 10 running that low amount of plays. Heck I can’t recall any bad team only running 38 freaking plays. OUCH!

4). SYRACUSE/CONN: Conn Offense struggled and only ran 46 plays overall. Syracuse Defense continues to be the hidden gem of CFB going completely unnoticed.

5). NEBRASKA: Had a bigtime shootout last week in their 45-42 loss to Ga. Southern. The Defense was on field for 86 plays and now will be facing a high octane Oklahoma Offense with some tired legs that also endured a super long opening game trip to Dublin, Ireland.
