MONDAY AUGUST 15TH, 2022 = MLB “HOT/COLD PITCHERS”
“HOT” PITCHERS:
1). NY METS (CARLOS CARRASCO) vs. atlanta braves
Note: Carrasco has been sensational this season so far with a (13-4), (3.76) ERA and of late he has all his pitches working and is a perfect (5-0) – (1.69) ERA in his last 7 starts. He is (2-0) this season facing the Braves and has a rock solid (1.92) ERA. Carrasco is (+$1.48) tonight.
2). LA DODGERS (JULIO URIAS) vs. milw. brewers
NOTE: Well folks first off it’s nice to Pitch in the Kingdom where you almost know before Pitch 1 you likely will get 5 runs or more of support. Unless you have been in a coma for past few years you know Urias is a stud. He started off season so so but his last 10 starts his command is better and the fastball has returned to full glory finally hitting 94mph consistently again. He’s allowed only 1, 0, 2, 0, 1 earned run his last 5 starts in 33 innings and he’s allowed only 18 hits the past 24 innings pitched. He didn’t walk any batters his last 3 starts and he has 18K’s combined his last 5 starts. Now he faces a struggling Brewers lineup on Monday Night. Urias is (-$1.63) tonight.
“COLD” PITCHERS:
1). CINCI REDS (MIKE MINOR) vs. philadelphia phillies
Note: First I was stunned when my KC Royals team (one of worst run in MLB) were able to fleece the Reds in taking on Minor and his somewhat high salary. Minor is a bottom tier Pitcher but wow even I didn’t expect these disastrous results. The Reds are (0-9) his last 9 starts and he is (1-9) and (6.24) ERA his last dozen starts. OUCH! Minor is (+$1.50) tonight.
2). WASHINGTON NATS (J. GRAY) vs. chicago cubs
Note: Gray has had some very solid outings this season but of late the wheels are starting to fall off. He wastes too many pitches and runs high game pitches thrown into 90’s by 5th inning. He’s allowed 28 earned runs his past 37 innings pitched. His team (Nats) have lost 8 of his last 10 starts and he’s only come away with one Win his last 10 starts. Gray is (+$1.24) tonight.
SLEEPER TO KEY YOUR EYE ON:
1). KC ROYALS (KRIS BUBIC)
Note: Tonight he faces the Twins on the Road (+$1.61). He struggled mightily early in season but of late he’s back in a really nice groove (he is streaky). In his last 5 starts he’s allowed only 1, 2, 3, 2, 0 earned runs and that was facing some loaded hitting lineups (CWS, NYY, RED SOX, TB, TORONTO). He’s even gotten into 7th inning in B2B starts. His curveball has been really effective and once he has that going his fastball does get swings and misses and lots of takes and called strikes. His Fastball is also up a tick to 93mph and part reason is he has cut down on all these crazy movements after every pitch. He’s definitely more sure of his stuff and it’s playing out. His team has no pressure and last year in second half of season KC had a solid record. It’s like watching same movie as the team is playing better of late, scoring more runs and giving some run support so the young kids like Bubic don’t feel need to pitch a shutout. Look it’s not all good as change up is all over place so he’s got a ways to go but I have seen a really nice swing in his favor past 5 weeks or so. What I just watched by the Twins over weekend against a depleted and really weak Angels lineup tells me he is a live Doggie tonight.
